In a story that harkens back to the story of the samurai ghost boots, a family vacationing in England is now saying that they have a ghost photobombing a picture of their kids. I had many thoughts regarding that photo, and many of the same thoughts could be applied to this photo. People forget exactly who was or was not in the backgroundwhile taking pictures on a vacation. Perhaps the person taking the photo didn’t realize there was a person there. The samurai photo was honestly more interesting to me, because the figure behind the girl seemed so close. Here, the “ghost” in the distance, and in shadows under a dark archway. Easy to miss her without the purple oval. It’s entirely possible that this woman walked into view while this man was lining up his shot, and because of lighting contrasts, simply didn’t notice her.

A family was enjoying a sunny afternoon spent at an old folly—or Victorian-style fake ruin—when an impish “ghost” spoiled their otherwise pleasant day.
Nurul Islam, 37, took a picture of his niece Mayrian Islam, 11, and nephew, Ryhan Kaliq, 9, holding hands. When he looked back at the snap of the kids posing in front of the folly, he saw an eerie vision of what appears to be a woman, wearing a fashion-forward cloak, walking up the steps. But of course, as these sightings go, there was no such person present.
Nurul is adamant that before the picture was taken, he and his sister waited for other tourists to move away so they could get an unadulterated shot of the kids.
“We waited and waited for a clear point when no one was there as they wanted to hold their hands together. That’s why we’re sure there was no one there,” Nurul insists.
“My sister said ‘Oh my God it’s a ghost.’ I’ve started to think it might be. There was definitely no one there when I took the picture.”
The estate, which is now a public park, was owned by a wealthy family in the 1800s. There was originally a room on the second story of the faux castle, which served as a sewing area for the ladies to gather. From the looks of it, the “ghost” girl could be headed upstairs to fix a few stitches on that tattered cape. Or, you know, she could be a fairy, a smudge, or a hoax. As usual, we’ll go ahead and leave that up to you and your vivid imaginations.
Of course it’s also possible that this is a hoax, or that it really is a ghost. And it doesn’t help that the author of this article never really identifies when or where this was taken, so there is absolutely no context and no historical information to attach to this. But honestly, it looks like someone just wandered into his shot, and it wasn’t noticed until later.
