This week’s photo is of the Chalfonte Hotel in Cape May, New Jersey. Built in 1876 by Civil War Colonel Henry Sawyer, this southern-style hotel was originally intended to be a boarding house, and to this day still boasts original antiques and fixtures throughout. Many locations in Cape May are reputed to be haunted, and the Chalfonte is no different. The ghost of a maintenance man supposedly still tries to fix things at the hotel to this day.

Don;t believe in this stuff..but…this last weekend my wife and I, walked around cape may and happened upon the Chalfonte….It said open to public so we walked in and look around. This is april 25 2017 off season. Nobody was there. we walked to the side room to the left of the front desk. I looked at the fire place and there was a wicker sofA with the cushion turned up. I def heard the distinct sound of somebody sitting down on the wicker sofa??????? not lying ..there where no guests in the hotel.just a maid that didnt speak english ..
