This week’s photo was taken at Woodland Cemetery on Staten Island, New York. Established in 1854, Woodland Cemetery is one of the oldest cemeteries on Staten Island, and is still active to this day. Though the cemetery is still active, it has fallen into disrepair and many of the older areas of the cemetery are now overgrown, which adds to the spooky atmosphere. Though there are plenty of rumors on Staten Island about the cemetery being haunted by the ghosts of those buried there, we could not find any specifics about what people have claimed to experience there. We’ve been there a number of times, and while the cemetery has areas that look creepy, it is a very peaceful place. Just be wary of the mosquitos in the late summer.
